“Ohmigosh, I was just literally assraped by that test.” – female student, overheard
Unless your anus is now bleeding from the fury of a thousand papercuts, no, you were not just “literally assraped” by a test, no matter how much you metaphorically felt violated.
Please do not use “literally” as an intensifier when it does not apply.

one of my pet peeves!
oh god. THIS THIS THIS.
This “literally” drives me up the wall.
The test is alive! And it likes butt sex?
It’s understood to be figurative. There is rarely, if ever, ambiguity.
I once had a prof who was bad about this. He would be talking about the world economy and say something like “and the economy of Zimbabwe literally collapsed overnight”. He literally would use the word literally several times in a lecture.
