Caramelldansen
I’m aware that this is a few years old – but it was revealed to me that many Xangans still do not know the term “Narutard,” which is even older. So, this is for your edification. I’m trying to help you!
Caramelldansen is best described as “an Internet phenomenon.” As the link to the CD indicates, it’s a song (and dance) conceived of by the Swedish group Caramell. It became fashionable to cast anime characters doing this dance. Here’s a relatively straightforward example: Kuroi Nanako (“Kuroi-sensei”) and Hiiragi Tsukasa from Lucky Star performing Caramelldansen:
Here are the full lyrics – the song clip used above starts at “Dance with us” (““Dansa med oss . . . “) and is from the Speedycake Remix.
Vi undrarar ni redo alt vara med
Armarna upp nu ska ni fa se
Komigen
Vem som helst kan vara med
So ror pa era fotter
O-a-a-a!
Och vicka era hofter
O-la-la-la!

Nu ar vi har med Caramell Dansen!Dansa medoss
Klappa era hander
Gor so vi gor
Ta negra steg at vanster
Lyssna och lar
Miss inte chansen
Nu ar vi har med Caramell Dansen!(This is not my transliteration; several sites carry it. It doesn’t look precisely like the lyrics sound, but then, Swedish is not English. The lyrics appear to be talking about the dance, in a fashion reminiscent of the Macarena. Thanks to All_That_Iam for translation help.)
As with any rapidly mutating idea, some of the strains produced were . . . extreme.
Ah, cross-genre cosplay. What words can do you justice?Madness? This is . . . yeah, it’s madness.

very nice. but i keep gettin’ something about a handbag and a male bouncer out of it.
I like madness.
I have a rather large selection of Caramelldansen in one of my older posts, something like 35 videos. It’s quite the phenomenon in Japan, even now — and of course, anything popular in Japan is immediately in my computer or on my shelf XD. The original Swedish release of the CD is actually still available on iTunes just FYI for anyone looking for it. And don’t worry about covering old things Mori, because there are people out there like me who take a while to catch on and then never give it up lol.
so that’s what it comes down to.
hehe i feel so much more informed.
I am glad I left Scandinavia and the rest of the western world in time to avoid this. What a load of shit.
But the lyrics are not what they are singing, the words are split incorrectly so that they no longer hold meaning (Ta na gra steg is supposed to be ta nagra steg – which means take some steps to the left. the following line does not mean move, but listen and learn. And a lot of small words are missing throughout the lyrics.) Just because I haven`t been this sort of an annoying bitch for a while.
OMG! I’ve always meant to see this bu i never got around to it, a friend of mine asked me to look at it because it’s so amazing…
I must agree, my mind has be blown…
This was, like, in half of all the masquerade skits at anime cons last year. As well as Rickrolling. It got really annoying fast…
that’s not madness. this is madness.
and that is their house, in the middle of their street.
God, I watched the entire first video expecting them to do something other than para para lmao.
I agree. Full-heartily.
weirdly enough, i’ve seen a gay elves version of this dance. i’m more of a fan for Hare Hare Yukai
the song is actually kind of cute. but gosh. *shakes head*
I can’t believe I didn’t know about this.
omg… seriously… Seriously… I made up a rave dance when I was in the 4th grade with pretty much the same hand placements. They stole the dance from me.
hahahha….xD this is precious.
ahahaa!
i got a good laugh from that storm trooper.
So this is Swedish not Japanese…Thanks for posting this up!
